Nottinghamshire company, easi-edge Ltd, has risen to the challenge and is supplying perimeter edge protection for the construction of the first all timber framed Tesco store in the UK.
The company, based in Tuxford, is providing edge protection specifically designed for timber frames, which is needed to protect workers during the building of the flagship store in Ystradgynlais in South Wales.
easi-edge specialises in the supply of edge protection barriers and safety equipment to the construction industry to ensure the safety of workers on site and had the ideal solution for this unique build.
The development of the new Tesco store is one of a new generation of environmentally friendly stores to be opened by the supermarket, which has set itself the challenge to become a zero-carbon company by 2050. When the South Wales store is complete early next year, it will be the first to have used timber throughout.
David Ford, Business Development Manager of easi-edge said: “As the building will be all timber framed we have devised edge protection that is specific to this build. An adapter plate is used in conjunction with standard components to enable fixing to the timber frame. Access Gates were also supplied to provide ground level access to site personnel to enable access to different areas on site.
